About the Bard Early Colleges
Bard Early Colleges are founded on the belief that many high-school–age students are eager and ready for the intellectual challenges of a college education. Bard Early Colleges act on this belief by providing younger scholars with a tuition-free, credit-bearing college course of study in the liberal arts and sciences following the 9th and 10th grades. Students are taught by college faculty in seminar classes; they receive up to 60 college credits and an associate in arts (A.A.) degree from Bard College, concurrently with a high school diploma. Bard Early Colleges begin preparing students for college work in the 9th grade and offer ongoing guidance and academic supports.
Now in its second decade, the Bard Early College network includes campuses in Manhattan and Queens, New York; New Orleans, Louisiana; Newark, New Jersey; Cleveland, Ohio; Baltimore, Maryland; and the Harlem Children’s Zone in New York City. Since 2003, Bard College has awarded 2,487 A.A. degrees to its early college students.
Bard High School Early College (BHSEC) Newark, a partnership between Bard College and the Newark Public Schools in Newark, NJ, invites applications for a full-time faculty position in World Literature, beginning September 2016. The area of specialization is flexible, but expertise in the formal teaching of writing is a necessity.

Qualifications & Requirements
The successful applicant for this position must be committed to teaching classes at both the high school and college levels. In addition, candidates will be expected to participate fully in the life of the school, including student advising, club advising, and committee service. Ph.D. and college teaching experience required; high school teaching experience and/or experience working with youth desirable. Work authorization in the United States required for all BHSEC Newark faculty positions.

Company Description:
The Bard Early College programs offer two tuition-free early college models. Both models offer students a liberal arts college education as part of their four-year public high school program. Students are taught by college faculty in undergraduate seminars and receive college credits up to an associate in arts degree from Bard College, tuition-free, concurrently with a high school diploma.
